I’ve been thinking about how to grow out of fear and into faith. As a believer, the safest place to be is in the most dangerous, inconvenient, uncomfortable, scariest place you can think of being, because it forces you to have faith in God.

Example: I’m unconfident in front of people. That is my dangerous place, where I am forced to face my fear and have faith in God to get me through it, or else I won’t make it through in one piece.

I feel like God is saying, “Step out into your dangerous place and know that I will meet you there!” Do something that you are normally afraid of doing, and in the doing you will find the boldness to do it more.

Moses might have never completely gotten over his fear or public speaking, but he became a great leader and changed an entire nation’s history in spite of it. Because he stepped into the places he was afraid to step, having faith when God said he would be with him, he was able to accomplish what he did despite any fear about his own ability. With God you are more dangerous than your worst fear.

I’m working on a list of things I am super unconfident doing, and so far everything seems to be what you would need to be confident doing in order to be a pastor or something like that.

With God you are more dangerous than your worst fear.

I think it’s so cool how God is so backwards from us. Most every religion is about you being as comfortable as you can get while you’re waiting to go to heaven (or wherever). Biblical Christianity seems to be the exact opposite: get as uncomfortable as you can get while heaven comes to you.

“Take the kingdom by force.” So then I am going to force myself to do what I am terrified of doing: talking.
